The Skystream 3.7™ is a new generation residential wind generator that hooks up to your home to reduce or eliminate your monthly electrical bill. Skystream 3.7™ is specifically-designed for grid-connected home and business use. In certain states consumers can take advantage of ‘net-metering,’ or the sale of unused energy back to the power grid. It is also the first all-inclusive wind generator (with controls and inverter built in) designed to provide quiet, clean electricity in very low winds. This makes Skystream ideal for residential homes and small businesses. All-in-One Solution
Skystream 3.7™ offers a simple, all-in-one solution to harnessing wind energy on a residential scale. Different from all other technologies, Skystream 3.7™ is the first all-inclusive wind generator with the controls and inverter built in. Rather than converting an inverter designed for grid-connected solar, the inverter was designed specifically for this application. Exceptionally
Quiet Operation
Skystream 3.7™ operates exceptionally quietly. In fact, Skystream 3.7™ is unrecognizable over trees blowing in the wind. Energy Production in Exceptionally Low Wind
Designed for very low winds, Skystream 3.7™ begins producing power in an 8 mph breeze with full output achieved at 20 mph. IS SKYSTREAM RIGHT FOR YOUR PROPERTY?
Skystream 3.7™ is designed to make wind power accessible to more people than ever before. If your site fits the following criteria, chances are Skystream 3.7 will work for you: PERMITTING,
ZONING, AND UTILITIES One of the first things to consider
when installing the Skystream is to understand what your local authorities will allow and require in regards to small wind
systems. You will be working closely with your city or county government to get a permit for installation and with your local
utility to allow you to connect to the grid through their electrical meter.
SITING
INFORMATION Once you have determined that you have the right conditions for a wind system, you will need to consider the best place on your property. Proper siting is critical to the performance and longevity of your investment. Poor siting in excessively turbulent conditions causes fatigue, damage and shortens a generator’s working life. STEP 1: Determining your wind resource There are several ways to ensure you have at
least a 10 mph (4.5 m/s) average wind speed:
STEP 2: Locating the system on your property: ![]() The general rule of thumb is to install your Skystream at least 20 feet (6 m) above any surrounding obstacles such as trees or building in a 250 foot (76 m) radius. STEP 3: Ensure proper tower height:
Generally, the taller the tower, the more energy output you will get from your system. However, taller towers will increase the costs of your installation and may not be allowed in some areas. While you should install your system on the tallest tower allowed, it is best to evaluate your overall energy and cost payback before investing in taller towers. ![]() For more in-depth information on proper siting, please see the Guide: Siting Wind Generators
